Wider weather episode
Robust moisture advection occurred on the morning of the 23rd and into the afternoon across the Rolling Plains resulting in surface dewpoints in the lower 70s. This created strong surface convergence along a dryline located from the southeastern Texas Panhandle into the Rolling Plains. Strong heating into the lower 90s created stout instability for thunderstorms to take advantage of. One isolated storm produced severe hail up to two inches in diameter in rural northern Childress County.
