Strong southerly winds reached a sustained 30 to 37 mph, with a peak gust up to 54 mph at the South Dakota Road Weather Information System site near Alexandria.

A strong synoptic gradient ahead of a cold front resulted in sustained south to southwest winds from 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 45 to 55 mph with a couple locations up to around 60 mph. Accompanying low humidity values led to areas of critical fire behavior, but no significant fires were noted during the period.
