A moisture rich, strong low pressure system brought rain; heavy, wet, high elevation snow; and gusty winds to southern Vermont from Saturday, March 9 through Monday, March 11, 2024. The heaviest snow fell over the higher elevations of the Southern Green Mountains with snowfall totals between 7 and 15 inches. Snowfall totals of 1 to 5 inches occurred across the lower elevations. Additionally, strong winds gusting up to 45 mph were reported across southern Vermont. As a result of the heavy snow, the state of Vermont enforced their Chain Up Law along Vermont Route 9. Several crashes due to snow covered roads were also reported.
