Freezing temperatures were observed in portions of western Kentucky during the early morning hours on the 22nd. The lowest temperature recorded was 30 degrees in Trigg and Todd counties. While temperatures were highly variable with many locations remaining above freezing, surface conditions were still favorable for localized frost formation. High pressure had moved over the region that night and allowed for mostly clear skies and calm winds. Any unprotected crops, vegetation, shrubs, and trees were late enough in the growing season to be impacted by the freezing temperatures and frost. Impacts were fairly isolated and minimal due to the short duration.
