Mesonet station XLAG measured wind gusts of 41 to 54 mph with the max of 54 mph occurring at 6:01 LST.

Wider weather episode

An approaching cold front led to a couple rounds of strong marine thunderstorms across the northwestern Gulf of Mexico during the morning hours of the 16th and then again during the morning and evening hours of the 17th. A strong supercell passed over north of Port Aransas on the morning of the 21st.
