Winter Weather — Uncompahgre Plateau and Dallas Divide, Colorado

2024-04-05 to 2024-04-07 · Uncompahgre Plateau and Dallas Divide, Colorado

Event narrative

Generally 8 to 9 inches of snow fell at Columbine Pass.

Wider weather episode

Very strong southwest winds occurred out ahead of a strong cold front and low pressure trough that moved through eastern Utah and western Colorado, bringing colder air with moderate snowfall across the mountains of western Colorado. The heaviest snow fell over the Elkhead Mountains and Park Mountains in Northwest Colorado. Winds remained strong enough to keep blowing snow impacts across the higher elevations. Milder temperatures limited snow accumulations in the valleys.
