Severe thunderstorms developed into northeastern Oklahoma during the evening of the 15th, ahead of a weak frontal boundary. Strong instability combined with strong deep layer wind shear resulted in the evolution of some of the thunderstorms into supercells, the strongest of which produced large hail up to 3.5 inches in diameter.
