Event narrative

A trained spotter reported to WFO ARX that a funnel cloud was southeast of Moscow, MN, near the intersection of 235th Street and 890th Ave.

Wider weather episode

A noteworthy elevated layer of instability built up aloft on the afternoon of June 4th. A line of thunderstorms developed across west-central MN which moved into eastern MN. Low level shear profiles supported an environment capable of producing mesovortices along the line, with damaging wind gusts. A couple of funnel clouds were also spotted, but neither was confirmed to have made ground contact.
