Event narrative
A line of severe thunderstorms produced a swath of significant wind damage in the in Vicksburg area and to the east along Interstate 20. Several trees were blown down onto and damaged houses in Vicksburg including along Fort Hill Drive, Hilldale Dr., and Douglas Road. A home on Warrenton Road was destroyed by a fallen tree, and widespread tree and power line damage occurred around the city. Numerous trees were blown down onto Interstate 20 east of Vicksburg including several which fell onto vehicles.
Wider weather episode
A line of severe thunderstorms produced significant wind damage, heavy rain, hail, and a tornado as it crossed from Northeast Louisiana into Mississippi during the evening of April 9th. Subsequent heavy rain and storms continued into the daytime of April 10th.
