Event narrative

Dept of highways and public reported numerous trees and power lines blown down through the city of Anderson and vicinity. At least one tree fell on a vehicle. Multiple buildings received mostly minor roof damage and damaged awnings in downtown Anderson. A 60 mph gust was measured by the ASOS at the Anderson Regional Airport.

Wider weather episode

A couple of waves of strong to severe thunderstorms moved into upstate South Carolina from north Georgia and western North Carolina...one during the afternoon and evening of the 8th, and another during the early morning of the 9th. Scattered severe storms produced large hail and isolated swaths of damaging winds over the Upstate and the eastern Piedmont.
