Strong thunderstorm winds knocked down a tree onto powerlines.
Wider weather episode
A mesoscale convective system (MCS) moved into the Northeast and brought widespread showers and thunderstorms with it. With this system moving into the region in the afternoon and evening, daytime heating helped create an unstable environment. Enough shear was present to support long-lasting storms. In Northeastern Pennsylvania, there were no reports of tornadoes, but there were numerous reports of wind damage ranging from trees being knocked down to roofs being ripped off of buildings. A man, in his home, survived a lightning strike and only suffered minor injuries.
