Public weather station observed a 39 knot marine thunderstorm wind gust. Report was via WeatherFlow.

A cold front approached Eastern North Carolina on the morning of the 27th before stalling over the area during the afternoon. As this front stalled, broken lines of showers and thunderstorms developed across the Coastal Plain and tracked southeastwards with some of this activity becoming strong to severe in nature. The strongest storms brought damaging wind gusts and even isolated waterspouts to the Croatan, Roanoke, and Pamlico Sounds as well as the Coastal waters from Nags Head south to the Crystal Coast.
