During the late evening hours of July 31st, an MCS brought severe wind gusts to the KC metro. Wind gusts up to 80 mph were reported on the Kansas side of the KC metro, but winds had weakened to 60 to 70 mph through the Missouri side of the KC metro. Widespread power outages were reported. A large percentage of the 60+ mph winds were associated with the gust front/outflow boundary out ahead of the storms.
