Numerous trees were knocked down in the southern part of Braxton County along with multiple power outages in the Sutton area.

Wider weather episode

An approaching cold front, making eastward progress through the Ohio Valley, helped to promote showers and thunderstorms through West Virginia on June 26th. Despite excessive cloud coverage, peaks of sunshine aided in daytime heating and the resulting development of strong to severe thunderstorms across the state. Outside of an isolated instance of quarter size hail in Clay County, the strongest storms that day caused downed trees and power lines due to damaging wind gusts. Convection jetted off to the northeast that evening with the encroachment of the cold front, bringing severe weather to an end.
