Wider weather episode
Southeast Ohio underwent a heatwave during the middle of July with daily chances of showers and strong thunderstorms each afternoon from the 14th through the 17th. Storms extended down from the Great Lakes region by the peak of the afternoon and brought forth strong enough wind gusts to produce downed trees and power lines. Activity then quickly crossed the Ohio River into West Virginia each evening, bringing the severe weather threat to an end.
