In the midst of a stationary frontal boundary promoting showers and storms across West Virginia on the morning of July 22nd, an isolated instance of flash flooding occurred in the Beckley area of West Virginia. Heavy rainfall accompanying convective activity early that morning yielded minor creek flooding in Raleigh County, which spilled onto Robert C Byrd Drive where it intersects with Ewart Avenue. High water issues dragged on into the morning rush hour before gradually tapering down in response to the creek returning to its banks.
