CWOP mesonet station FW8225 Sidney measured wind gust 7 miles west-northwest of Lorenzo.

Wider weather episode

Initial storms early in the afternoon on the 17th produced up to ping pong ball sized as observed in Sioux County Nebraska. Scattered storms eventually organized into a convective line that produced strong outflow winds around 60 mph across the southern Nebraska panhandle late in the afternoon.
