Event narrative

A severe thunderstorm producing winds estimated near 60 mph knocked down a tree onto Iron Street on the north side of Johnstown, blocking one lane of the roadway.

Wider weather episode

A cold front associated with surface low pressure in New England traversed Pennsylvania during the late afternoon and evening hours of June 23, 2024 in an environment with ample instability and shear. A broken line of severe thunderstorms produced severe damage in northern Tioga County with a more cohesive line of thunderstorms forming further south impacting portions of the Central Mountains of Pennsylvania.
