Event narrative
A severe thunderstorm producing winds estimated near 80 mph knocked down multiple large trees with one crushing a football team shed. A set of metal bleachers were also knocked over and pushed twenty to thirty feet around one of the local ball fields behind the Little League World Series Complex in South Williamsport.
Wider weather episode
A shortwave trough in a warm and humid air mass allowed for convection across western Pennsylvania to continue tracking eastward across central Pennsylvania during the evening hours of July 15, 2024. Scattered instances of severe thunderstorm wind damage across mainly the northern tier and the Middle Susquehanna Valley occurred before continuing further east into eastern Pennsylvania during the evening hours.
