Event narrative
A National Weather Service Storm Survey confirmed that a microburst occurred near the town of Milesburg as a thunderstorm moved through the area. Maximum wind gusts were estimated at 105 mph. The microburst began along Moose Run Road where numerous trees were snapped and uprooted. Additional trees were uprooted along Johnson Hill Road. A barn and an outbuilding also sustained considerable roof damage as a result of the storm.

Weak surface troughing in an environment of ample instability and moisture allowed for convection to occur across east-central Pennsylvania during the afternoon and evening hours of June 22, 2024. Severe thunderstorms produced concentrated areas of thunderstorm wind damage with occasional small hail reports throughout the evening.
