Thunderstorm wind gust was accompanied by a heat burst with a temperature of 93F and a dew point of 29F.

Wider weather episode

Thunderstorms developed over northern Cherry County and south central South Dakota during the early evening hours of July 29th. This activity became severe just north of Valentine around 7 PM CDT. As this activity tracked to the east-southeast, it remained severe through around 10 PM CDT exiting Boyd county to the east. Overnight, strong winds in association with a convective induced heat burst, impacted the Keystone and Lemoyne areas with winds of 65 to 75 MPH.
