Event narrative
The Lakeside Mountain mesonet station began to record wind gusts at or above 58 mph (initial of 63 mph) at 7:05 pm MST, increasing to a peak wind gust of 70 mph at 7:25 pm MST, with a final severe wind gust of 58 mph recorded at 7:55 pm MST. These wind gusts were the result of outflow winds associated with a nearby cluster of showers and thunderstorms moving through the area.
Wider weather episode
Sufficient moisture in combination with a shortwave impulse brushing by the area resulted in numerous strong thunderstorm wind gusts in addition to isolated instances of flash flooding.
