Wind gust was measured at the Ocracoke XOCR personal weather station via WeatherFlow. Report came in as thunderstorms were moving across the area.
Wider weather episode
A weak cold front noted across the Coastal Plain slowly tracked east throughout the day on August 12th, eventually pushing off the Coast during the evening hours bringing isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms to the coast and offshore waters of Eastern North Carolina. A few of these storms brought damaging wind gusts to portions of the Pamlico Sound and coastal waters near the Core Banks.
