Wind gust was measured in the Pamlico Sound on the Pamlico Sound XPM2 WeatherFlow Station. Wind gust occurred as thunderstorms were moving across the area.

Wider weather episode

A cold front stalled across the Coastal Plain during the afternoon of August 19th. As this occurred, isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms developed along the Coastal Plain just out ahead of this front and gradually tracked eastwards into the northern coastal waters and Pamlico Sound on the evening of August 19th. A few of these storms brought damaging wind gusts to the waters from Pamlico Sound north.
