Event narrative
Numerous 2 to 3 inch branches were downed by thunderstorm winds near downtown Edgerton.
Wider weather episode
Marginal mixed-layer instability and effective bulk shear around 30 knots led to weak organization of scattered storms during the late afternoon and evening hours from eastern South Dakota into southwest Minnesota. The strongest cells produced up to quarter size hail. A deeper sub-cloud dry layer supported spotty stronger wind gusts.
