Event narrative

A severe thunderstorm producing estimated wind gusts of 60 mph knocked down trees and wires northeast of Sand Hill.

Wider weather episode

An approaching MCV, coupled with ample instability and moisture during the late afternoon and evening hours of July 16, 2024 allowed for convection to begin forming across the Lower Susquehanna Valley. These thunderstorms quickly began producing instances of severe wind damage across the Lower Susquehanna Valley with isolated instances of small-to-marginally severe hail as they continued tracking northeastward into the Lehigh Valley.
