In the midst of a hot and humid conclusion to the month of August, diurnally driven showers and thunderstorms sprouted across West Virginia on the afternoon of the 29th. Activity remained isolated to scattered that afternoon, with a few storms growing capable of producing damaging wind gusts. This mainly resulted in downed trees and isolated power outages across the state. In Huntington, a tree fell onto a home, but only caused minimal damage.
