With breezy southerly winds bringing dew points in the mid to upper 70s to Southeast Missouri under high pressure, heat indices in most of Southeast Missouri surged to 105-115F on the 14th and 15th, extending to the 16th at the Ripley County RAWS site near Doniphan. The highest observed heat index was 112F at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport ASOS on the 15th.
