The Weatherflow site at Shutes Folly in Charleston Harbor measured a 38 knot wind gust.

In the morning, thunderstorms developed along the land breeze just off the Charleston County coast. Later that day in the evening, inland thunderstorms moved to the east across the Charleston County coast and the adjacent coastal waters. The main threat with these thunderstorms was strong wind gusts.
