Showers and thunderstorms moved across the Front Range Urban Corridor and eastern plains during the afternoon. Wind gusts to around 60 mph occurred with the first batch of showers (non-thunderstorm wind gusts) over the Denver Metro area. The showers intensified into thunderstorms as the raced northeastward onto the plains. Winds reached as high as 71 mph in the Sterling area and was accompanied by a wall of dust.
