Hail was accompanied by strong wind gusts to cause crop damage in the area.

Wider weather episode

Thunderstorms formed near and ahead of a weak surface low over western North Dakota along a weak warm front, with some storms becoming severe. The strongest wind gust estimated at 75 mph occurred at Hazen in Mercer County where tree damage was reported. The largest reported hail was one-inch in diameter, occurring around Minot and to the north of Rice Lake in Ward County.
