Wider weather episode
A cluster of thunderstorms developed in an area of uncapped elevated instability over southeast Kansas during the late hours of July 11, 2024 and continued into the early morning of July 12. As a result, heavy rain between 3.25 and 4.89 inches fell over Cherokee County. A severe thunderstorm also produced damaging winds, resulting in trees down in Cherokee County.
