ASOS site KBDR at Bridgeport Airport measured a 36 knot wind gust.

Wider weather episode

A broad positively tilted upper-level trough approached from the west along with associated surface cold front and pre-frontal trough. The pre-frontal trough moved into an area with high instability (1750-2000 J/kg of MLCAPE). This combined with Effect Bulk Shear values around 25 kt allowed for multiple severe thunderstorms to develop. The storms were able to produce damaging wind gusts across the waters, with DCAPE values around 750-1000 J/kg.
