Event narrative

Utility company reported trees blown down on power lines along Monroe Rd near McMullen Creek and additional trees on power lines in the Matthews/Pineville area. Emergency manager also reported a tree blown down on a vehicle at Pineville-Matthews Rd and Baybrook Lane.

Wider weather episode

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms developed across western North Carolina, mainly during the late afternoon and evening. Several of the storms produced brief swaths of damaging wind gusts. Meanwhile, training thunderstorms resulted in very heavy rainfall and flash flooding in Henderson County.
