Half dollar size hail was reported in the Highland Trails area of Southern Pines.

Storms developed early in the morning of the 12th of August over the southern Piedmont, Sandhills, and southern Coastal Plain in association with a surface low tracking along a stalled frontal boundary. Storms produced nearly 2 inch hail over Moore County, as well as downed trees and power lines in Cumberland County.
