Severe (D2) Drought Conditions returned near the Tennessee River and persisted for the remainder of the month.

A very small swath of Severe (D2) Drought Conditions returned near the Tennessee River in late August. Soil moisture and crop moisture remained below normal for August. Extreme (D3) Conditions neared the Tennessee River Valley, but enough rainfall from Tropical Storm Francine across West Tennessee prohibited the worsening and spread of drought conditions.
