Wider weather episode
Ahead of a cold frontal passage, clusters of showers and storms raced through southeast Ohio on the afternoon of August 31st. Convection on this particular day was not well organized, but there was enough wind to support downbursts in storms as they trekked towards the Ohio River. Main impacts on this afternoon from activity were observed from tree damage in Meigs, Jackson, Gallia, and Lawrence Counties. Storms then ventured into West Virginia for the rest of the evening.
