Wider weather episode

An isolated severe thunderstorm developed late in the afternoon on August 16th across Howard County Arkansas where surface temperatures were in the upper 90s to lower 100s F, contributing to 8.5-9.5 C/km boundary-layer lapse rates. As such, an intense and persistent updraft developed within the thunderstorm before becoming outflow dominant, with severe wind gusts initiating along the subsequent outflow boundary. However, deep-layer ascent and shear were weak, so this threat remained very isolated near the core of the storm with a few damaging wind reports across Howard County.
