Event narrative

A severe thunderstorm dropped hail the size of ping pong balls in Hancock.

Wider weather episode

A potent upper level shortwave and associated surface cold front pushed through Central and Southern New Hampshire on the afternoon of August 5th. This allowed for a few strong thunderstorms to develop that brought large hail and damaging winds. One storm that crossed Cheshire County, brought some of the biggest hail stones of the summer severe season to the state.
