Montana Mesonet station MT Lebanon SE just east of the Sweet Grass Hills measured a 58 mph gust.

A longwave trough and attendant closed upper low diving southeastward from the Gulf of Alaska brought increasing zonal mid level flow across the Northern Rockies. An approaching shortwave within the broader trough as well as cold air advection allowed for strong winds and gusts to translate to the surface during the day October 27.
