Frost/Freeze — Union, Illinois
2024-10-16 · Union, Illinois
Wider weather episode
The first patchy freeze of the season along with frost brought an end to the growing season for part of the region. Low temperatures in Southern Illinois were highly variable from 29-32 degrees to 33-37 degrees as the region was on the leading edge of high pressure building in from the west. A cold front had previously moved into the Deep South, resulting in northwesterly winds and cold air advection.
