Event narrative
A newspaper reported that a 59-year-old tourist was spending time with his 9-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter at Jobos Beach when they were swept away by rip currents. Two surfers at the beach rescued the children and then returned to retrieve the father, whom they brought to shore, but he had no vital signs upon arrival.

A weak high pressure is ridding over the region from a high pressure just west of the Canary Islands maintained light and variable winds. This promoted seas of 3 to 4 feet, occasionally higher over the Atlantic waters of Puerto Rico. There was a moderate risk of rip currents in effect for the northern beaches of Puerto Rico, including Isabela. One rip current related drowning occurred in Jobos Beach.
