Event narrative

Severe (D2) drought conditions expanded into the northern 2/3rds of Sheridan County in mid September and persisted through the end of the month. The cooperative observer at Gordon 6N recorded 0.17 inches of precipitation in September. This was 1.51 inches below the normal of 1.68 inches. The cooperative station at Ellsworth 2W reported 0.04 inches of precipitation for September. This was 1.57 inches below the normal of 1.61 inches.

Wider weather episode

Severe (D2) drought conditions developed mid month in September across portions of western and north central Nebraska. By the end of the month Severe (D2) drought conditions were impacting portions of Sheridan and Holt counties in northern Nebraska.
