A potent upper-level area of low pressure brought the first widespread snow of the season to the Alleghenies. Cold air rushed in during the morning of Thursday November 21st which resulted in snow showers and squalls quickly overspreading the mountains. This heavy snow frequently dropped visibilities below one quarter of a mile. This coupled with wind gusts of 45-55 mph resulted in blizzard conditions across western Pendleton and Grant counties. Snow accumulations ranged from 10 to 16 inches across far western Pendleton and Grant Counties, with lesser amounts of 2 to 6 inches across far western Mineral County.
