The combination of strong high pressure over eastern Canada and weak low pressure off the southern New England coast, resulted in prolonged northeast, east and southeast winds which caused minor to moderate (tidal) coastal flooding over portions of Northumberland county adjacent to the Potomac River. Lewisetta reached 3.73 feet MLLW at 442 pm on Saturday, September 21, 3.94 feet MLLW at 524 pm on Sunday, September 22, 3.80 feet MLLW at 654 pm on Monday, September 23, and 3.58 feet MLLW at 736 pm on Tuesday, September 24.
