An Arctic Front passed through during the night of December 4th into December 5th. A wave of low pressure along the Arctic Front brought an initial mix of sleet and freezing rain. As the front passed through, heavy snow developed and the winds increased. Winds gusted to 60 mph resulting in considerable blowing and drifting snow. This led to blizzard conditions across Garrett County. Snowfall accumulations ranged from around three inches in western Allegany County to around six inches in much of Garrett County with the higher ridges approaching eight inches. This potent front dropped temperatures into the teens for the next couple of days. Wind chill values fell to 0 to -10F.
