Cold/Wind Chill — Western Grant, West Virginia

2024-12-05 · Western Grant, West Virginia

Wider weather episode

An Arctic Front passed through during the night of December 4th into December 5th. A wave of low pressure along the Arctic Front brought an initial mix of sleet and freezing rain. As the front passed through, heavy snow developed and the winds increased. Winds gusted to 60 mph resulting in considerable blowing and drifting snow. This led to blizzard conditions. Snowfall accumulations averaged three to eight inches in western Grant County and western Pendleton County. This potent front dropped temperatures into the single digits and teens for much of December 5th and 6th. Wind chill values of -10 to -20F were observed across the higher terrain.
