Severe drought conditions (D2) cover the southern three quarters of the county with a slight expansion in the west central portions during this month. The northern quarter of the county was in moderate drought (D1).

Wider weather episode

Severe drought conditions (D2) expanded across portions of southern Kansas during October impacting primarily the counties along the border with Oklahoma. There are a couple of exceptions with slight improvements in parts of Cowley and northern Labette counties.
