A two-vehicle crash resulting in injuries was reported by the Hamlin County Sheriff along a stretch of SD Highway 22, which was slick due to light ice and snow. The accident caused the highway to be closed for nearly eight hours.

Wider weather episode

A weak system generated a dusting to up to 2 inches of snow and some light freezing rain by the early afternoon of December 17th. The resulting icy roads were a contributing factor in at least one vehicle accident with injuries in northeast South Dakota.
