Severe (D2) drought persisted through November with precipitation varying from 100 to 200 percent of normal with a majority falling on a single day mid-month.
Wider weather episode
Rainfall varied from near normal to almost 250 percent of normal during the month, with the least precipitation over portions of far southeast South Dakota and toward the Missouri River in south central South Dakota. Heavier precipitation mid-month led to improvement in drought conditions in the far east by late month.
